A Brisbane man bullied for wearing bright yellow thongs to a backyard barbecue stabbed the host in the face before killing one of the guests, a court has heard.
Benjamin Haydn MacRae, 28, used a paring knife to stab neighbours Ian Macdonald and James Croker after being dubbed a "gaylord" by one of the men over his choice of footwear.
Mr Macdonald later died as a result of his injuries.
Brisbane's District Court today heard the group had been drinking at a residents' barbecue at the Acacia Ridge caravan park - where they all lived - on November 19, 2005 when the atmosphere turned sour.
"There had been some banter between Ian Macdonald and Benjamin MacRae during the day," Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller said.
"Ian Macdonald had suggested on a number of occasions that Benjamin MacRae was a gaylord because of the colour of his thongs. The mood was a good one, but it deteriorated."
Somebody tried to throw the yellow thongs away, causing MacRae offence. He was also accused of disrespecting some of the barbecue guests and was asked to leave.
The court heard two scuffles ensued near the caravan park's toilet block and MacRae was seen to strike Mr Croker three times with the knife in the jaw, back and spine.

Hahaha! Det blir ganska mycket mer galet om man tänker thong=stringkalsong - vilket jag gjorde innan jag läste rubriken och ordet footwear... Härliga barbecues Aussies har alltså :D

why have you posted this news article? Do you know the guy?
If you knew the story you would find out that the guy was found not guilty today and that there is alot more to the story than just this news articles. The fact that this guy was beaten by the men and he had to use self defence has conveniently been left off. The fact that Macrae then rang the police and the ambulance for the injured man has also been left off.
I would love to hear how you think its ok to post this sort of thing without knowing the guy or obviously the full story.
